"Being a film shooter for 10 years before the advent
of digital, not unlike many professionals, I have many thousands of images
to scan.
I've found that there is much more grain in desktop film scans,
even from high end desktop scanners, than in digital files.
And I've always avoided noise reduction software, because as
they all would tone down the noise, there was a noticeable, and unacceptable
loss of sharpness.
After applying Dfine 2.0 to my scanned images, I was
absolutely floored at how the image just seemed to "clean up," pulling
out the grain, yet maintaining absolute sharpness. I kept doing "undo's" and "redo's" to
see the difference in sharpness and amount of grain, and the
sharpness remained the same (sharp), but the grain was gone!!
